Wednesday May 11th Update by Ms Smith

One of the mothers day portraits. Fine art, even if it isn't an exact likeness it does capture the inner essence.

We began our Wednesday by jumping right back into fractions. We reviewed improper fractions vs. mixed numbers. The class was quick to recall the work we did yesterday and some began to move ahead on their own. Today we looked at changing improper fractions into mixed numbers. A tricky concept at first, however by recess the class was able to successfully change improper fractions into mixed numbers without using pictures.
After recess, the class had a fun morning with music and then another session with the “Rocks and Rings” program.
After silent reading we looked at the music artist Michael Buble. Because choir practice was canceled, the whole classed listened to four songs sung by the jazz singer. The students then used a fact sheet to write a one-page report on Michael Buble.
We finished off the day by continuing to work on our Canadian province booklets. The students are using these work blocks to research the province they chose, and put what they learn into their booklets.
Track and Field continues in full swing this week. Div four had a prize winner today...great job H!
