Last week we finished the 30 spelling word lists in the Spelling Book. So this week I took the list of grade 4 words and printed out one sections. The students then drew a picture of their mom reading their mothers day project and wrote about mothers day at their house.

After recess we did math fractions. We went through about 10 questions slow and one step at a time. The questions were like: what is 2/3 of 12 and 3/5 of 20. By the end most students were coming up with the answer but need more practice. Try these with your child to see if they understand the concept. 2/3 of 15 or 3/9 of 18. We solved these questions by doing them in two steps. a) divided the number by the number of items in the group ( the denominator) to find out how many were in 1 group then B) multiplied the number found in one group by the number of groups (the numerator) Example: 2/3 of 12 A) 12 divided by 3 tells us that there are 4 items in one group then B) there are two groups so 2 x 4 because we are looking for two groups. so 2/3 of 12 = 8

At 11:00 we had a special P.E. presentation called 'Rocks and Rings' introducing us to the basics of curling.

After lunch those students not in choir listened to Fleetwood Mac and did a one page report on them. This was followed by a 40 min reading period and the day ended with music.
