Tuesday may 10 update from Ms Smith

During track run off two students ran right out of their shoes but neither stopped to get them. Hilarious

Today we dove right into a new social studies project on the Canadian provinces. After book exchange in the library, the students each chose a Canadian province which they would be interested in learning more about. During computers, we began our research of the provinces by focusing on specific topics such as historical facts, the provincial crests, flags, animals, etc., and many other interesting details!
After recess, we practiced handwriting O Canada before diving right back into our projects. The class spent the rest of the morning starting to put together their Canadian province booklets. The students have been given the challenge of filling 20 pages with information and pictures to show what they have learned about their province.
After silent reading, we began to look at describing fractions using mixed numbers and improper fractions. The students had fun coming up with different foods that we could use as examples. By the end of the lesson, the class was beginning to be able to describe fraction pictures using both mixed numbers and improper fractions.
Because the gym is being used for the “Rocks and Rings” program we finished the day with some outside exercising and free time on the playground.
