We began the day with Library and Computers. The students worked on making two posters using the web site wordle.net. When these posters were printed the students worked on finishing their previous power point presentations on an explorer and an animal.

After recess the four political parties helped their leaders put the final touches on their speeches while the rest of the students colored their printed posters from computers.

For science we did a fun activity, as part of our unit on light, with a mirror activity. The students had to use a mirror to solve mirror image questions on a hand out sheet. The sheet was finished by all students and put into their science dou-tang.

After Lunch we had a special presentation in the gym on Emergency Preparedness from Saanich and a safety talk about natural gas from A's dad representing Terasen Gas. The presentation was informative, interesting and fun with games and interactive components. Perfect for grade 4. The students were shown what to put into an emergency kit, how to duck and cover in emergencies and how to respond to many natural disasters. We were given some very generous hand outs and materials to bring home. We did not have enough time at the end of the day to send them home as the class did not get cleaned up fast enough after our art project. I probably should have started clean up earlier but they were into the project and did not want to cut it too short. I was, however, informed by several students, that if there is an earthquake tonight and need their safety kits they are going to be very mad at me.

Following the presentation we listened to speeches from the 4 political parties and ate cupcakes donated to the class by one of the political leaders. This was followed with an art project using pastel chalk.

Tomorrow we hold the class elections to decide who will form the class government and be a pain in my side for the rest of the week. Thanks Mrs. B.
