Monday May 30, A normal day

The class is a wonder and in demand for school performances in and out of the school. Many are in the choir and will be performing tomorrow morning for the unveiling of the mural.

Gorge Summer Water Sports Camps
June Lunch program people sign and return please.

Due today the provincial report. A picture of all those students finished this project will appear in a photo tomorrow holding their projects high for all to see.

This week started normally with our weekly spelling words. This weeks words are all on a space theme. The tricky part is remembering not only how to spell the words but which ones are proper nouns and need capitals.
Unit 32 Space theme: astronomy comet constellation Earth galaxy Jupiter Mars meteor Mercury meteorite Neptune planet Pluto quasar rocket Saturn Uranus Venus (Bonus: telescope shuttle)

After the spelling test we worked on adding fractions with unlike denominators. Although many students were catching on to this topic many still need more practice. (the concept being you cannot add fractions until you make the denominators the same)

After recess we began by exploring how light bends when it travels through different substances in a process called refraction. In this case we looked how light bends in water by examining a pencil in a clear glass. After working on a one page report on refraction in Science we worked on finishing the story and Cartoon from last week.

After lunch those students not in choir listened to the Goo Goo dolls and did a one page report on them. This was followed by a 40 min reading period and the day ended in music with Mrs. Awalt.
