Students started their handwriting practice books this morning and many are excited about it. After they demonstrate that they have learned cursive, they will be allowed to write with a pen. Great motivation!
In math, everyone finished their double bar graphs showing temperatures in Victoria and Nakhon Pathom, Thailand for the last 9 days. The learning curve was a bit steep for many yesterday but today everyone was more comfortable with the concept.
After recess, everyone used cotton balls to show what stratus, cumulus, and cirrus clouds look like. The clouds look realistic! Next, students finished their group weather assignment on “What makes weather?” Everyone worked cooperatively. It was a pleasure watching them and hearing the busy hum of them working together.
I read aloud from Shipwreck, then students finished other work (math, language arts, and homework) that is due today. Any unfinished work was sent home for homework. Before lunch students presented their posters on “What makes weather?” and it was interesting to hear how students described temperature, pressure, movement, and precipitation in their own words.
See you next Tuesday, after Thanksgiving.
