Wednesday Afternoon: Computers, Music and Cree legends

We began the afternoon in the computer lab where the students are learning how to move pictures from a simple but effective graphics program into Microsoft Power-point. The goal was to create a minimum of 3 graphic images as part of a story told using Power-point effects and slide transitions.

After Computers the students went to music with Mrs. Awalt where they continued with learning to read notation for percussion as well as being introduced to the new set of songs that will become part of our Remembrance day assembly on the 11th. A note: This year's Remembrance day will be the 11th year of the 11 month of the 11th day of the 11th hour. It only happens once every 100 years.

After music we did a Social studies assignment on a Cree Legend the "Coyote and the Star." The students were each given a paragraph from the legend and they had to read then create an illustration of a paragraph they read. After the illustrations are finished I will put them in order then the students will have to see if they can figure out the whole legend from only reading the one paragraph and looking at the illustrations. They will then have to re-write the legend in their own words before hearing the entire legend. The students did such a great job that their illustrations will be put up on the bulletin board in the hall or by the office.

See you all Friday. Remember study your spelling words tomorrow night for Friday's test. Take care Mr. W. P.S. click on your child's initials to the right to show that you read the blog so I can inform those who are not reading the blog of it's value.
