April Book Recommendation and TC Weather Picture

Runny Babbit by Shel Silverstein

After Spring Break we started a poetry unit. To compliment our studies, this month I am recommending Runny Babbit by Shel Silverstein. We have this book in our classroom and it is also in our school library.
This funny and creative collection of poems is about Runny Babbit and his friends, who all mix up some letters in words so that each poem is a puzzle to figure out, yet somehow is also easy to read and understand. For example:

"Runny Huts His Own Cair"

 Runny gave himself a cairhut
(But he would not admit it).
When his scamma molded him,
He said, "The darber bid it."
So she went to bee the sarber.
The swarber said, "I bear
I did not souch one tingle head
Upon your little hare."

Line drawings around each poem illustrate what the narrative poems are about and help students figure out what the poems mean.

I rate this funny and clever book 5 stars out of 5.

Also, congratulations to A. who had her weather picture published in the Times Colonist newspaper this week. I think this is the 13th picture from our class that has been published this school year! Awesome drawings everyone.
If anyone else wants to submit pictures, I'm still accepting them to submit to the TC.
