The Pise oportunity according to Mrs. Schneider ..........

"I just read Lori's email. I don't know if you know of Jordan Hanson but this after school sign-up activity is an amazing opportunity.

I've taken a few classes from him and he is absolutely amazing. You leave feeling buzzed with excitement and in awe of the rhythms and music the group created, despite being novice or first time drummers. He is fantastic with kids too."  Mrs. Schneider

We began with math.  We have been working on solving word problems using math facts and organizing information to find an answer.   The questions were:
How many 2 scoop icecream cones can you make using vanilla, chocolate and  straberry icecream?
If you have a red, blue and green shirt and two ties, one poca dotted and the other striped how many shirt tie combos can you have?
How many ways can you make 17 cents.
With a rabbit, cat, dog, and a mouse how many combinations could you make if you could only take two animals at one time?
We ended with the old fox chicken grain and the river croxxing puzzle.  The farmer has to get the three across the river but the chicken will eat the grain and the fox will eat the chicken and he can only take one at a time in the boat. How can he get the three across the river safely.
The students worked in small groups or by themselves.

After math the students worked in their M.E. books to talk about their 'Neverland.' Neverland is a place where they like to imagine going especially at bed times.

The students worked so quietly and well that after recess we invited ourselves to a game of bench ball in the gym with the grade 5's.   We followed this with time to work on their neverland writing and a quick computer period.

After lunch we started with reading followed by Music.  Mrs. Awalt is away but the substitute teacher is very good and sang and played rhythm games, like rhythm Bingo, with the class.

We finished the day sketching and learning about shading.  The students are doing light in Science and this is a great connection.  We are sketching shells as one of the students brought in her shell collection to share with the class.   Thanks S.
