Lunch can be nutritious and creative. H has her sandwich cut into the shape of a star and a bone. Art you can eat... nice.

In order to help the students understand the process of putting a fraction into simplest form we did two things. Looked at division as the inverse of basic multiplication 15 divided by 3 = 5 because 5 x 3= 15 and reviewed the concept of multiples. (The multiples of 10 are those numbers that divide evenly into 10. [1, 2, 5 and 10] the multiples of 12 are [1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 12]) From there we will explore common multiples (1 and 2 are common multiples of 10 and 12) . It may also help to review prime numbers for those students who understand their basic multiplication and are good at math. Prime numbers are those numbers that can only be divided evenly by themselves and 1. [3, 5, 7, 11, 13]. Recognizing prime numbers will help them understand if a number is in simplest form.
Math was followed by a writing assignment for our M.E. writing project. Which is taking longer than I had planned. However, anything that is of quality always does so after Recess We continued with our writing program.
In the afternoon we started with reading for 35 minutes then worked on various Mothers day art projects.
