Tomorrow we celebrate 15 min of reading fun in preparation for family literacy day on Sunday.  The school has chosen Robert Munsch and his books to read and study tomorrow (and all next Week)  Next Thursday is dress like a favorite Munsch character.  The students can dress or bring in some item that reminds them of a character or a story by Robert Munsch.

Tuesday afternoon
Mrs Schneider was away ill Tuesday morning.  We hope she is feeling better.  I know she hates to miss the valuable time she spends with the class and I know the class will miss the productive learning time spent with her. 

We began the afternoon reading followed by Music. The students are reading notes and playing the recorder.  They were learning a new French song when I took the pictures.  The last period I gave over to a catch-up, solid work period.  I have handed out a check list of all the work they have been assigned to check off what has been finished so far this term.  

 

Wednesday: 

We began the day working on the group project on the Polar Bear.  The students worked very hard and were quite focused on completing their mini-polar bear books.  Some of them are so funny I laughed out loud.  We followed this with reading from Peter Pan chapter 2.  The students take notes about important plot events and keep a list of new characters and when they were introduced.  

 

After lunch the students that do not go to choir listened to and did a report on Crosby, Stillls, Nash and Young, one of the most successful acts of the late 60's and 70's.  They were the only American-based band to approach the overall societal impact of the Beatles.

 

After choir we talked about the travois a sort of "moving van" used by small and large groups  to move and pack all their belongings.  Writing information from a personal first person perspective, in this case a journal,  is a way to avoid plagiarizing information.  At 2:00 we went to the awards ceremony in the gym (even numbered divisions being honored) We ended the day by putting away the chairs and cleaning up the gym and playing a quick game of bench ball with the last 10 minutes.
