Andy Warhol Art, Water Safety, and a Fantastic Hoop Dancer

Andy Warhol Inspired Art
Today was a full and busy day without much time in the classroom. Because of today's unusual schedule, students took home their Spelling list this week without writing their Pre-Test. This morning 12 students from our class attended a dance workshop with Teddy Anderson, a fantastic and talented First Nations hoop dancer. The students who didn't attend finished their Andy Warhol art until we met up again before recess time.
Art inspired by Warhol's "Red Sam" painting. The one on the top left isn't finished yet!
After recess, the grade 4s and 5s participated in a 1 hour Water Safety Workshop. We learned about the difference between PFDs and Life Jackets, things to bring with us when boating, and what to do in emergency situations. The presenters were funny and interesting, and the classes were great listeners.

After lunch was a quick Library book exchange (the last week to sign out books), Silent Reading, and to the gym to watch Teddy Anderson's performance. His dancing and powerful message of respect and peace was a phenomenal performance.
These videos are from his official website, to give you an idea of what we experienced :-)
