Wednesday Morning Sept 28th with Mrs O'connor

Today the students started the day silent reading while I took attendance. I read them the the fractured Fairy tale " The Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig". Fractured Fairy Tales are traditional fairy tales rearranged to create new plots with different meanings and messages. They are a fun way to teach literary elements such as character, setting, problem, plot, climax, conflict and theme and conclusion. Today we studied character development. I had the students storyboard a new character from a traditional fairy tale. They will have the next week to work on creating their own fractured fairy tale around the character they developed today.

After recess I gave the students an interest inventory. They answered questions about their likes and dislikes. This helps me get to know them better and also helps them develop skills that are important in developing for career education. After 15 min of D.P.A our brains were ready to concentrate again and we split into three groups to continue working on our math strategies.
